Yesterday, M.I.A., the Tamil-British singer, was the first time on a stage in Vienna. It was more a electro-party than a concert, we all enjoyed in the Gasometer. The live implementation relied on solid beats, a lot of artificial smoke and the intense flickering light show. The audience quickly started dancing with M.I.A. to the musical mix of hip-hop, electro and Baile Funk.
M.I.A. was not very shy when she invited so many people on stage, as could be found, during the song Boyz.Right at the beginning M.I.A showed why she is sometimes quite controversial: Her styling with PLO head scarf and the song "Bucky Done Gun" from their second album, "Arular" and on the video wall pictures of war-helicopters and a lot of pounding gun-beats. She also brought the suicide bombing Track "Lovalot" from her third album "Maya". In addition to the obligatory provocative elements, she offered a great dynamic show where the brevity was not really disturbing. With her great hit "Paper Planes" the evening ended.
