Andy Warhols: Poor Little Rich Girl with Edie Sedgwick

To all the party girls and boys out there: 

who has not sometimes a hangover from the night before..hardly you are torturing out of bed and finally you begin to prepare for the next party?! That was almost everydays live of 60s tragic party legend and New York it girl Edie Sedgwick, perfectly put on film by artist Andy Warhol.

Pool Little Rich Girl: 
The film takes place in Edie's own apartment. Andy shot two rolls (approx. 70 mins) of Edie as she lay on her bed, talked on the phone and walked around her room. 
The first 33 minutes of the film are completely out of focus as Edie wakes up, orders coffee and orange juice, smokes cigarettes does her excercises, takes pills and puts on make up, all done in silence, except for the background music of an Everly Brothers album. The rest is in perfect quality when Edie is finishing her make up, showing off her clothes and describing to her best gay friend Chuck Wein about last nights dream, the next party, what she is thinking about millionairs, men who are after her, eating, shopping and drug behavior and how she had spent her entire inheritance in six month. 


Here it is part 6 of 7. But the whole film can be found on youtube. So much fun watching it, maybe while you are also looking for an evening party outfit or fix your make up?

Movie about Serge Gainsbourg

You have to watch the new movie about french artist and legend Serge Gainsbourgs life:
In France, he was a national treasure on several fronts: an astonishingly versatile musician, poetic lyricist, outspoken social critic, hilarious celebrity and a maverick pursuer of the high life.
To the rest of the world, he was an ugly-looking bloke with a knack for picking up great-looking women.

You will learn about Serge's Russian-Jewish heritage - barely acknowledged by the man himself throughout his career - and his unfulfilled urges as a painter. But newcomers to all things, Gainsbourg (played by Eric Elmosino) will find more entertainment value in the plentiful depictions of his very fulfilled urges as a lover of the ladies. Serge's musical and physical collaborations with Brigitte Bardot (Laetitia Casta) in the late 1960s provide the film's most accessible moments.

However, Gainsbourg's complicated relationship with his most important muse, Jane Birkin (Lucy Gordon), could have been given more prominence.
For it is in the decade leading up to his death in 1991 that Gainsbourg's mercurial behaviour and radical career choices revealed more of the man and the artist than we glimpse here.
But it is worth a visit, and at least you will hear good music and get some great style ideas!

Bellaria Kino

Always a little bit in the past - that's the thing about Vienna! 
But also in the cinema? Yes, there is a unique address: the Bellaria Cinema in the Museumsstrasse 3, in the 7th district, just behind the Volksthetaer. 
Here are the stars of the Ufa-time still a live. 
All film hits from the 20s to 60s are played here almost every day.It is worth to be there, like an hour, before the performance! It is almost never sold out, but I love to sit there with a glass of wine, you can buy from the funny lady at the "bar", and listen to the old Viennese ladies and the exchange information about everyday life and old movies.  
It seems like the Bellaria-foyer is a kind of livingroom compensation, which they visit regularly and from  now on, the same for me :)

Living room ambiance at a video rental store? 

Yes!!! today I found it right next to my house, the oz-cinethek, located right off the busy Neubaugasse, in the Lindengasse 53 in the 7. district of Vienna. It's really THE place to go for all movie-lovers and the old vintage furniture and kitsch wallpaper makes you feel like in some granny's home.

Every 1st Sunday/month is the “Patschenkino” evening, meaning that you can behave like at home: you can smoke, drink, feel free to chill, be yourself and enjoy a art movie with friends (you can  also vote for your favourite movie at the webside). 

They have a great selection of  Art house, classics, insider tips, movies for children, rare stuff and tv-series – and of course the usual blockbusters, you can rent for €3.60 over night. 

You can also get Illy coffee, Lasko beer from Slovenia, Austrian wine, healthy juices, Frucade, Fritz Cola and various snacks. You can either have them for take away or enjoy your snacks and drinks at the oz-cinethek in a calm, retro atmosphere.
