Cafe Prückel
The cafe Prückel, located Stubenring 24 in the 1st district, was founded in 1903 and last renovated in the 50s. It is offering everything you wanna find in a cafe:
A large smoking area, retro charme, international newspapers, good coffee (always with a free glass of water and a silver tray), good homemade food and a not very charming but very polite waiter. The audience is a mix of elderly people, tourists and young, hip, art students.
There are also several art exhibitions and even a stage in the basement. And of course there is also the tinkling piano music in the background (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 19-22). So it is easy to understand why the cafe Prückel is one of my favorite cafes in Vienna.

Bonbonniere Bar
The Bonbonniere Bar located in the Spiegelgasse 15 in the 1st district of Vienna ..a still living legend in which each visit is like a journey back in time.
The oldest existing bar in Vienna, adopted in 1938 by the current owner, has many stories to tell: the aristocracy, the stock market, politicians and the local and foreign Stars where there, just never someone from the press. They still don't wanna have press people around - what happens in the Bonbonniere stays in the Bonbonniere!
The original interior is stunning:Red silk wallpaper, naughty engravings from the 18th century and a lot of crystal. Of course you are allowed to smoke there. There is also a large alcohol selection, and the stuff is frivolous and cordial. The music is a mix of Hildegard Knef, Fran Sinatra, Jazz and 50's and 60's evergreens. And from 9pm on there is a funny bar pianist par excellence, and sometimes a former operetta star accompany him.
They are glad to see new, young people, but avoid to advertice the Bar. So it's still a very secret and unknown place to go.The Bonbonniere is the ideal place for an elegant evening with friends and drinks, or for a total crash! But it will be always a night to remember..So go and let the daily life behind you. I hope the Bonbonniere will still please us many, many years!
And they do have a webside now: http://www.homepagesearcher.com/bonbonniere/
